Improving optimism starts with shifting focus to the positive aspects of life, even in challenging times. You can train your mind to see opportunities instead of obstacles. Small, consistent efforts can build a resilient and hopeful outlook that enhances both your mental well-being and your ability to achieve goals.  This week let's practice reframing your thoughts.

 Quote

"Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results."
– Willie Nelson

People are hardwired to go towards the negative instead of the positive due to survival needs from thousands of years ago.  That doesn't mean you can't break that negative loop of thoughts and replace them with positive and empowering ones.

Today's Coaching Challenge

Challenge the accuracy of a negative thought by asking, “Is this 100% true?” If the answer is no (as it often is), reframe it with a more balanced, realistic, or empowering perspective.

Frequently those negative thoughts include words like "I never" or "I've always..."  Watch for those opportunities to question if that thought is true. Each time you challenge a negative thought for its accuracy you are breaking the loop and becoming more aware of all the negative thoughts you have throughout the day.  The change into more positive thoughts won't be instant, however, the more you do this the better you will be, until one day you realize you have very few negative thoughts.

Action to take

Pick something where you "always" or "never" something.  Many people think they are terrible at remembering names, but I bet they remember the names of their parents, spouse, kids, boss, and friends, so it's not true.  In this example when you think or say "I can never remember people's names" replace it with something like "It's easy and fun for me to remember names, it's almost like a game,"

 Always supporting you,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jan
