There may be something you’ve been telling yourself you should do for weeks. Perhaps it’s making an appointment, starting a project, or calling someone you miss. Each time it crosses your mind, you feel a little pang of disappointment—then promise yourself you’ll get to it later. That small, unfinished promise can become surprisingly heavy.

 Quote

“Outer order contributes to inner calm.” — Gretchen Rubin

Mental clutter counts, too. When an intention sits on your internal list without a decision attached to it, you have to keep remembering it. The answer might be to do the thing. It might also be to admit that it isn’t a priority right now.

Today's Coaching Challenge

What’s one “should” you keep postponing, and what’s keeping it on your list?

If you decide it isn’t worth pursuing, take it off your list without putting yourself on trial. An unfinished “should” takes up space in your mind each time it resurfaces, often bringing a fresh dose of guilt with it. Letting it go frees that space for what matters to you now. You can always reconsider if your circumstances change.

Action to take

Choose one postponed “should” today: schedule its first step, or cross it off your list.
