Fear is a natural response to uncertainty or challenges, but it doesn't have to control you. Whether it be a personal or business issue there are ways of handling fear that allow you to move forward. The key word in that last sentence is "move", as inaction is the best friend of fear. When faced with the prospect of getting out of your comfort zone some people embrace the idea while others do not, so, let's discuss.

"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for." – John A. Shedd
I refer to getting out of your comfort zone as "going into your growth zone". Let's face it, every day all of nature is getting out of the comfort zone. A plant would never appear if that seedling didn't push through the surface of the dirt, a lion would starve if it always just laid in the sun and never went out to hunt for food. Yet, humans sometimes put up great resistance to moving beyond their comfort zones.
Today's Coaching Challenge
What area of your life has a challenge you’ve been avoiding because it feels uncomfortable?
Perhaps there is someone you would like to ask out on a date but are more afraid of rejection than getting the date. One way to start moving out of your comfort zone is to start small. Maybe ask that person to coffee instead of an evening dinner date. Taking baby steps towards a larger goal can give you needed insight and help build your confidence.
Action to take
Think of something you have been avoiding, what’s the first action you can take to face it?
