Beginnings can feel clunky, awkward, and downright discouraging. You put yourself out there, try something new, and instead of feeling confident, you feel shaky. It can be tempting to wonder if you’ve made a mistake or if you’re even cut out for this new direction. But the truth is, feeling uncomfortable at the beginning is normal — it’s simply part of growth.

Quote:
“Every master was once a beginner. Every pro was once an amateur.” — Robin Sharma

We often forget that the people we admire didn’t start out polished or confident. They went through the same trial-and-error process, stumbling along the way. The difference is that they kept showing up long enough to learn and improve. A messy start is simply proof you’re moving forward; not evidence you should give up. In fact, the messy start is what builds the skills and resilience you’ll need later.

Coaching Question:
Where in your life have you been tempted to quit too soon simply because the beginning felt uncomfortable?

It’s natural to want results quickly, but lasting growth rarely comes that way. If you identify an area where you’ve pulled back too soon, it might not mean you weren’t capable — it could just mean you didn’t give yourself enough space to grow through the awkwardness.

Action to take
Pick one area where you’re just starting out and commit to giving it more time before you evaluate your progress. Write a note to yourself that says: “This is just the beginning — keep going.” Place it somewhere you’ll see it daily.
