There are seasons when belonging feels out of reach — when the house is quiet, the phone doesn’t ring, or the familiar faces have changed. Belonging doesn’t always start with a best friend or big family. Sometimes, it begins with something much smaller — a familiar face at the coffee shop, a weekly volunteer shift, or a kind neighbor who waves as you walk by.

Quote:
“Belonging starts the moment we stop waiting to be invited and begin inviting life in.” – Mitch Albom

It takes courage to open that door — to step into a space where we might not know anyone, to attend a class alone, or to say hello first. Yet those moments of vulnerability are often the birthplace of genuine connection. We rediscover that belonging can start with a shared smile, some extra kindness, or a simple act of showing up.

Coaching Question:
Where could you take a small step toward connecting with someone, even if it feels awkward?

You don’t need to force a big social leap. A friendly chat with a store clerk, a meetup group, or a volunteer role can create a bridge between solitude and connection.

Action to Take:
This week, take one small action to start connecting — not because you’re lonely, but because you’re open. A single, genuine interaction may be the beginning of the belonging you’ve been missing.
