It’s no news bulletin that stress is at an all-time high in the world right now. While many of the things going on in the world cause us to be stressed a lot of stress is created internally, self-inflicted. This month my Java's will cover Perfectionism, Worry, Hurrying, and Unrealistic Expectations in that order.
Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. -- Lao Tzu
Have you ever planted some seeds and eventually you saw some sprouts come up through the ground? Then a plant started to develop and you might get flowers depending on what you planted or leaves. Would anything have happened faster if you were out there every day telling it to hurry up? Of course, not, that would be silly. Yet we seem to be living in a world where everything is moving faster and faster and technology is a big part of that.
Today's coaching challenge
What's your hurry? Why are you rushing through life instead of enjoying the moments that you have on this planet?
I know you have all heard the saying "Stop and smell the roses" and the perspective that the enjoyment of the journey is more important than the destination. But really what's the rush? Why not stop to watch the sunset and enjoy the colors in the sky as it goes down or stop and notice a butterfly as it lands on a flower? Remember we are human beings, not human doings.
Action to take
Instead of rushing from one Zoom meeting or phone call to the next, allow yourself to take a moment in between and go outside, breathe some fresh air, and look up at the sky.
Always supporting you, Jan
