We enjoy so many freedoms in the USA that we might take some of them for granted.  We are going to explore several of these freedoms: movement, autonomy, and economic.  This week let's look at personal autonomy.

 Quote

"Autonomy... is freedom to develop one's self - to increase one's knowledge, improve one's skills, and achieve responsibility for one's conduct. And it is freedom to lead one's own life, to choose among alternative courses of action so long as no injury to others results."--Thomas Szasz

You have the ability to make your own choices, good, bad, or indifferent.  There are consequences, however, to your choices and actions.  Missed opportunities if you fail to act, being judged by others, and arguing for your limitations are just some of the downsides of exercising your free-will.  The positives can take you to levels of success that you have only dreamed of.

Today's Coaching Challenge

How are your current beliefs and actions influencing your ability to freely make choices in various areas of your life?

Do you find that you are living a life someone else wants you to live or holding back because you're afraid?  Your beliefs in one area of your life can affect the other areas so it's beneficial to look at everything that is going on in your life: work, health, family, friends, etc.

Action to take

If you have any areas of your life you would like to change, write them down.  Then start with the one that is most important to you and daydream about what you would ideally like to experience.  Once you have done that start thinking of ways to bring that into reality.
