Have you ever noticed that the stories you tell yourself have a way of becoming expectations?
Quote
"Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny." —Lao Tzu
If you repeatedly tell yourself, "I'm terrible with change," you'll probably begin avoiding new opportunities. If you believe, "People always let me down," you may keep others at a distance before they've had a chance to earn your trust. If your story is, "I'm not capable," you may never discover just how capable you really are. Our thoughts become beliefs. Our beliefs influence our choices. Our choices shape our future. That's why the stories we repeat matter so much. The good news is that you're also the author of the next chapter.
Today's Coaching Challenge
If the story you're telling yourself today became the story of your future, would you want to keep telling it?
Every time you challenge an assumption, choose a healthier perspective, or refuse to let one difficult moment define you, you're writing a different future for yourself. Your circumstances won't always change overnight. But the way you experience them can. And often, that's where real transformation begins. Your answer may reveal exactly where your next opportunity for growth begins.
Action to take
Choose one empowering statement to replace an old limiting story this week. Repeat it whenever the old story tries to return. Remember, every new chapter begins with a different sentence.
Always supporting you, Jan
