Practicing random acts of kindness is a simple way to enhance the quality of life for everyone around you. Whether big or small, these gestures can create a ripple effect that fosters goodwill and compassion for others. Most times when we think of being kind we think about others.  Rarely do we realize the importance of being kind to ourselves.

“Be kind to yourself so that you can be happy enough to be kind to the world.”

One way we fail to be kind to ourselves is in our self-talk.  I frequently tell my clients to talk to yourself as if you were speaking with your best friend.  Would you be brutal and demeaning or kind, understanding, and supportive?  You deserve the same respect and kindness that you would give to your friend.

Today's Coaching Challenge

Are there any situations where you struggle to show yourself some love? Wouldn't it be nice to have some ways you could handle those moments a little more gently?

Perhaps you need to step up your game in some area.  Even if that is true, you don't have to be mean to yourself in the process. You can give yourself a kind and encouraging peptalk, then start brainstorming a new action to take.

Action to take

Make a list of 3 things that you enjoy, your own personal kindness to use when life is dragging you down a bit.  It could be things like listening to your favorite music, taking a short walk, playing with your pet; little bits of kindness to share with yourself.
