You probably know what drains your energy. But how often do you intentionally think about what restores it? We tend to treat recharging as something we'll get around to after everything else is finished—which means it often doesn't happen.

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” — Anne Lamott

Energy deposits don't have to involve vacations, spa days, or clearing an entire afternoon from your calendar. Some of the most effective ones are surprisingly small. A few minutes outside. A conversation with someone who makes you laugh. Some music you love. Moving your body. Reading something simply because you enjoy it. Finishing one nagging task or sitting quietly without looking at a screen.

What restores one person may do absolutely nothing for another. And sometimes we confuse distraction with restoration. Twenty minutes of scrolling through your phone may give you a break from what you're doing, but if you put the phone down feeling just as tired—or even more depleted—it wasn't a deposit at all.

Today's Coaching Challenge

What always leaves me feeling better, lighter, calmer, or more energized afterward?

Think beyond the obvious. Consider the small moments during an ordinary week when you notice a shift in yourself. Those are clues. Once you know what genuinely restores you, you can stop waiting until you're completely depleted before doing something about it. Like filling your gas tank before it hits empty.

Action to take

Choose one thing that increases your energy and deliberately put it into your schedule this week.
