The key to getting someone to do something is to inspire them to want to do it. So, how can you encourage people to feel motivated to take action for you? How do you strengthen your ability to influence and persuade others effectively?  Let's look at another way to build influence this week.

 Quote

"If you want to influence people, tell a story. It engages the heart and the mind, making your message not just heard but felt." — Bernadette Jiwa

While facts and logic are great, it’s often emotions that drive decisions. To be more persuasive, try tapping into the feelings of your audience. Share stories that spark joy, excitement, or empathy. When you connect on an emotional level, your message becomes more relatable and sticks with people longer, making it much easier for them to be influenced by what you’re saying.

Today's Coaching Challenge

How can you incorporate stories that evoke strong emotions like joy or empathy into your communication to make your message more persuasive?

Remember as a child how you could sit endlessly listening to stories that your parents shared whether they were true or fictional?  It’s no different as an adult.  People will follow someone who captures their imagination and evokes their emotions.  Just look at some of the greatest leaders like Gandhi, Mandela, or Martin Luther King, Jr., talk about influence.

Action to take

Start adding heartfelt stories into your everyday conversations—whether it’s in meetings, presentations, or casual chats—to connect with people and make your message more persuasive.
