This month the focus is on laughter as a stress reducer. It's a beautiful thing because it's free, easy to share or receive, and has many health benefits in addition to the reduction of stress. This week is about using comedy as a laughter resource.
"Comedy is a serious business. A serious business with only one purpose, to make people laugh"--W. C. Fields
We were given a gift that there are people whose career is to make us laugh. Where would we be without them? When we were children we didn't have mortgages to pay and jobs to go to every day. We might have had to pay for an ice cream cone or had the job of cleaning up our room. Somewhere between then and now we started taking life seriously and often stopped having as much fun as we used to. There are all types of humor and comedy, enough to create laughter or smiles in everyone.
Today's Coaching Challenge
Who and what makes you laugh; is it a certain comedian or type of funny movie?
Perhaps it's watching the antics of little children, animals, or situations that didn't go as well for someone as they would have hoped. Start to create a treasure chest of comedy that lifts your spirits, makes you laugh, and helps you realize that humor can be found even in many serious situations.
Action to Take
Take a moment to write down the name of one comedian or movie that makes you laugh. If you have another minute add it to the list so you can easily remember where to go when you need or just want to lighten up and have some fun.
Always laughing with you, Jan
