This month's topic is about time and how we seem to think we don't have enough of it.  Every person on this planet has the same amount of time and some people seem to get everything done that is needed while others struggle, become frustrated, and overwhelmed.  There are things you can do today to change your perspective about time.  This week we are looking at slowing down and taking time to reflect.

“When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing – just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?”  – Ralph Marston

Spend some time in nature.  We can't help but slow down in nature's unhurried pace.  After a very stressful day, I used to go down to the ocean and walk.  I started at a quick pace still holding on to the stress of the day,  but before I realized it I was walking slowly, breathing deeper, and was completely relaxed without trying.  The movement of my body, fresh air, and the amazing ocean had settled my soul.

Today's Coaching Challenge

I challenge you to go for a walk in a park, the beach, or whatever nature looks like in your part of the country, without earbuds or a cell phone; just you and nature.  Take time to notice the flowers, trees, birds, or buildings.

You will find that you can survive without stimulation from the media and you will also start to remember that there is still a lot that is right and good in the world.  Time will seem to slow down like when you were a child before the world taught you to rush, rush, rush.

Action to take

Pull out your calendar and pick a time and place for your walk even if it's only for 30 minutes.  Get creative and have fun with this, ask the little girl or boy inside you what they would like to do that you haven't done for a long time.

Always supporting you,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jan
