This month I'm discussing Reclaiming Silence, you remember that word, right? Webster defines silence as the "absence of sound or noise". Perhaps we could get close to that if we lived in a cave, on a deserted island, or maybe were taking a spacewalk from the International Space Station. This overstimulation of noise and sound creates a lot of anxiety in people so let's look at things you can easily do to counteract this barrage of sound.
True silence is the rest for the mind, and is to the spirit what sleep is to the body; nourishment and refreshment.---William Penn
Getting quality sleep is one of the best things you can do for your mind, body, and spirit. With the exception of snoring, sleeping is a quiet activity when you can heal and repair your body and mind and you can also solve problems.
Today's Coaching Challenge
How do you enter into your time of sleep? Are you watching TV in bed, rehashing what you didn't do right that day, or filling your mind with the next day's "To Do" list? If so, it is any wonder you have a hard time sleeping? How wonderful would it be to wake up, rested, and energized after sleeping through the night?
I would venture to say that these last two years with COVID have changed many people's sleep patterns. There are things you can do today to create new habits and improve your sleep quality. Are you willing to take charge and start getting a better night's sleep?
Action to take
If thinking about tomorrow is your downfall, consider making your tomorrow "To Do" before going to bed. That way you know what is needed tomorrow and you can let your mind relax saying to yourself "Now is my time to rest".
Always supporting you, Jan
