PERSONAL NOTE

I want to thank everyone for the emails, notes, texts, etc. that I received after Molly died.  She was my sidekick for 15 years and the house is too quiet and empty without her.  Hard to imagine that a little bird can mean so much.  I am starting to look for a new companion, either another parrot or perhaps a puppy, just in the investigating stages right now.  Unless, of course, if one of you knows of a quality gentleman, in his late 60's or early 70's, I would be open to that possibility as well.

I hope to send you a picture in next month's newsletter.  Until then, thank you again.  Your love and support meant the world to me.

Putting the Pieces Together: Creating Harmony in a Busy Life

Ever feel like you’re piecing together a complex puzzle, with each piece representing a different part of your life? Each piece…work, family, personal time, and friendships need to fit just right to form a complete picture. But in today’s fast-paced world, it’s as if someone keeps adding more pieces to the puzzle, making it impossible to achieve a perfect “balance.” Instead of seeking that elusive balance, finding harmony where all those parts can coexist creates a clearer, more fulfilling picture of your life.

Achieving harmony in life isn’t always simple. True harmony is about blending day-to-day responsibilities—home, work, family, and friendships—while also respecting one's own needs, values, and goals. In a constantly moving world, creating this sense of harmony takes both inner and outer work.

Inner Harmony—Nurturing Yourself

The core of harmony begins within. It’s essential to consider how well you care for your physical and emotional well-being. Are you fueling your body with nourishing foods and moving it regularly? Do you prioritize preventive health by getting regular check-ups with the doctor and dentist? Beyond the basics, are you making time to unwind, breathe, and reconnect with what brings you joy—whether it’s enjoying nature, pursuing a favorite hobby, or simply pausing to relax.  When you set aside a little time daily to care for yourself, you’ll find the steadiness and energy you need to thrive.

Creating this inner harmony is about finding those moments to restore and recharge, allowing you to show up for life with a sense of calm and vitality.

Outer Harmony—Cultivating Connections

Harmony also involves reaching beyond yourself to connect and contribute meaningfully to others. Are you spending quality time with family and friends, sharing experiences that uplift you both? Are you finding ways to give back—perhaps by sharing your time, your expertise, or simply your presence with others? Building harmony with those around you provides a sense of connection and belonging that makes life feel richer.

Giving to others, while maintaining healthy boundaries, creates a rhythm that grounds us in our communities and gives life a greater sense of purpose.

Finding Harmony—The Key to a Joyful, Fulfilling Life

To see where harmony already exists in your life and where it may need more attention, try keeping a personal log of how you spend your time. Using a notebook, track daily activities with two categories in mind: “for me” and “for others.” Include requests for your time, whether from family, colleagues, or other responsibilities. Don’t forget to add in those inner “requests” too, like “I wish I could spend a little more time reading” or “I need a moment to myself today.”

Notice how you feel about each commitment. Are there times when you’re compromising your own needs to meet others’ expectations? Do you feel fulfillment, or maybe a bit of resentment, about certain roles? Honest reflections like these can reveal what aligns with your values and where shifts might be needed to create a life that feels in harmony with who you are.

After a week or two, you’ll likely see patterns emerge, giving you insight into what’s truly important and how you can start making choices to cultivate harmony. By making intentional adjustments, you’ll support a life of health, joy, and connection—a life in harmony.
